A Page from Her Diary

Dear Me,

After 23 years of existence, you have finally found the meaning of your life – that you are important, your views matter and you are no longer a mere subjection to patriarchy. You are a young independent woman who has made her parents proud but most importantly you have had the courage to carve way for your own.

Years before when you were born, there were people who expressed their grief saying “Sigh! It’s a girl, now you should start collecting things for her dowry.” Now those mouths are sealed with feviquick, and they can’t praise you enough to have had the guts of being the first girl of the family to have excelled both on the academic and professional front.

You should be glad that you are a writer and blessed with a pen which is mightier than a sword, and that one day you will write something spectacular that creates a change in the typical stubborn mindset that girls are just to prepare bread, and are not the breadwinners. Stay happy, and inspire all the way.

Love,
Me.
